Grand Honda said they sold that Yellow one in 2 hours and that was an "one time only special". Their regular price is MSRP.

Well, maybe "one time special" for this particular car. I see their ads quite regularly, so I know it's more a "five-or-six-time special".

As a matter of fact, I bought my car back in November using one of their ads as a benchmark and pretty much got a price match from another dealer without much haggeling (must have been the time of year or the state of the economy). Perhaps that is the right strategy...???

Well, what can I say, other than the fact that even at the 38K you paid for the car, it is a relative bargain. Especially when you look at the cars it is meant to compete with. Looked at any Boxsters/Z3s lately? As far as depreciation factor, it is foolish to treat the car (or any car for that matter) as an investment. You will end up unhappy every time. Just enjoy it for what it is .

Okay, today's Tribune includes an advertisement from Schaumburg Honda. "Manager's Special": MY2001 S2000, Spa Yellow, for $29,995.

(847) 88-HONDA or http://www.schaumburghondaautos.com

The usual disclaimer: I've never dealt with them, don't know if they are respectable, what other charges they put on top, etc.

Good luck.

i dont agree, at 38k for the s2000, i would rather pay a little bit more, around 5k more for the BMW M ROadster.

Today's ad in the Chicago Tribune, courtesy of Grand Honda

5 S2000s in stock; either a $0 down, $395/month 36-month lease (no other details given) or purchase for $30,500.

Good luck.

I have tried to deal with Grand Honda on multiple occasions and they are very very shady. Even all the other Honda dealers in the Chicago area said to beware of Grand Honda. I would be very careful. I was also trying to line up buying a car for a friend in Cali, and everything was a go. Then the GM said I needed to buy the car and title it in Illinois, he couldn't sell to a person in California, which I think is total BS.

On another occasion they ran the ad and my salesman said they sold the last one the night before. I called back and spoke to a different salesman who said they had 2 in stock.

I am in the process of buying a '01 with 7000 miles on it for $26,500, which I think is a good deal, the '02 wasn't worth an additional $4,000-$6000. Maybe after I receive the '01 I will go up there and see if they will give me $27,500 for the trade and sell the '02 for $30,500
