Default New S2000s for under $30k.

A buddy of mine is getting ready to buy an 02' for under 30k somewhere in PA. I can't help but have 'buyer's remorse'. I paid $38k in 2/00 (msrp with forced options). Now I couldn't get $26k out of the car if I tried. Anyone want to speculate what the resale of an 00' will be worth after the 03's, the new Z, and the RX-8 will be? Everytime I think about it I get depressed.

Whats there to be sad over? Do you plan on selling your car anytime soon or something?

It's just too difficult to speculate a car's depreciation.

However, there are a lot of new models coming out. The new Audi A4 convertible may also be competitive.

I think the killer model will be the 350Z convertible!

I will probably need to ditch it after the summer for something that can haul '3' people.

Hey there Maveric.... The convertible Z may be a hot one, but only if they build it to be a convertible....i.e: make it rigid enough that it doesn't have any cowl shake, or other serious vibrations when the top is popped. We all know how nice the S2000 is when going over bumps. etc., and alot of convertibles can't make this claim..... Kevin

Someone else was wanting to know that too. I will check to see if I can find out exactly who it is.

What, don't you have a trunk?

Though I don't quite see why you have buyer's remorse two years later -- you got 24 months of fun out of your car, so even if today's prices are six grand cheaper, that's less than $250 per month (and you got all those extra options on your car, too!).

Heck, that's like going to the bars every weekend and spending $50 on alcohol. I'd say you got the better deal.

Okay, disclaimer up front: buyer beware and I make no warranties of any kind for this dealership (actually, I talked to them once and was not impressed, but perhaps that was just me)...

Grand Honda in Elmhurst, IL advertised a 2002 Spa Yellow S2000 in the Chiacgo Tribune today, for $29,960. No word as to whether this includes delivery and whatever other fees they charge or if it's out-the-door pricing, but feel free to give them a call.

1-800-NEXT-HONDA or 630-833-7700

Good luck.
