New S2k in 2005....
If you look up "speculation" in the dictionary you should see this information. Why people want to believe they know something about what is "slated" for an '05 S2K is beyond me, no such slate exists for certain.
Reason would dictate that the S2K will probably remain unchanged in design (no reason to change it and the current model sells strong), and that until the NSX makes the performance margin much wider then the S2k performance will probably stay the same.
I'd look for a performance increase in the S2K shortly after the new NSX arrives.

Thumb in the wind estimate:
The next 'NSX' (some think it will have a different name)
will likely have a gas-electric hybrid power system.
My guess is that it'll have 380 hp. The real performance
gain will probably come from the addition of an electric
motor providing torque at 'zero' rpm.
It's hard to imagine power less than 350 given that the outgoing
car has 290 hp, and the 350Z has 280hp at a very low price
point. Figuring that they will bump the S2000 up to keep up
with competition in 2005 terms (some 3 years from now), I'd
expect the S2000 to move into the same territory where the
old NSX was--290hp.
I think honda knows that what makes this car a winner
is the price, power, and weight of the car (and rigidity).
I doub that they will deviate much from that formula. Also,
keeping the price reasonable more or less forces them to
leave out the knick-knacks that bmw is stuffing the Z4 with
(in price and pork).
I'll probably do the same thing I did with this car--wait a year or
two for the initial rush to wear off, and then buy a very lightly
used private party car.

Just an interesting point about the Lancer
Mitsubishi.ca has them on their website

Maybe it's not the EVO version

That way our S2000s will hold their value even better and be more sought after, similar to the last generation of the Supra.
