Default New S2k, Where To Start?

Just picked up my new s2k, and I was curious as to where to start modding, looking for a small-mid hp/torque pickup to get me started before I drop a turbo in. Suggestions?

There is no easy way to pick up power.

It's already a quick car, just learn how to drive it and you'll be surprised.

Same thing with any new car.

Do a thorough tune up, you'd be surprised what new plugs, air filter, new synthetic oil and some cleaning can do.

Then do the basics, intake, exhaust, header.

In all fairness regarding the 2 above posts, not everyone buys a 2K for racing, its always nice to have a bit more punch when you're merging onto the highway.

learning car dynamics isn't necessarily for racing only. it applies to real world driving situations more than you would imagine. the car has more than enough punch for freeway onramp merging... the above posters are on the right track as far as suggesting learning to drive the car, as you know, can be a lot to handle at times.

I agree, but most power mods have little to do with the power required during a race involving corners for street driving. Having just sold a 400whp S13 to get a 2K, I can see why someone would want to improve the power. Although it is "enough" for the average driver you cant slam the guy for wanting a bit more pick up in a straight line.

If you just got it, how do you know what "mods" it needs. Enjoy what Honda gave you first, then add some parts.

Seeing how the OP is planning on going turbo, I would not bother with NA mods. The $/hp for NA mods on the S2k is really poor.

We're just speaking from experience on the site. We see a lot of new S2000 drivers crash their cars when having a sudden change in acceleration mid-corner.

People call it "snap oversteer" but it's really a gross driver error that surprises the unaccustomed driver.

And think of it this way: Improving driver skill increases corner exit speed, putting you into a higher rpm range... INSTANT TORQUE AND HP BUMP, YO!

Same thing with good tires --> higher cornering speed --> higher rpms, MORE HORSEPOWER!!!!
