Some tires do have a film that is applied to them, if you are in a tire store and you touch the tires, they feel oily. Like others have said when this rubs off, your VSA should start to work properly.

Congratulations! Like a large percentage of S2000 owners, you skimped/didn't do your research when you bought the tires!

PRO TIP:

The tires contact the road.

(They're important)
FWIW, buying BFG G-Force Sports is not skimping on tires.

"Mold release."

VSA is working properly (if that's the case). It's just slippery until you wear that layer off.

^^^they do, they call it the right foot and a brain. so i have heard. and bf-g are ok tires, they are not anywhere compared to stock. i have them, but they will do. and no, having different size diameter does not effect vsa, i went from a 245/40 to a 255/40. and is what is still on the car. my bet is, is that there is that film or coating is still on the tire. just wait, and it will fell better.

my cousin and i were on a track and i didnt know he just bought new tires. we raced and i was in front (he was in an evo 8 mr trying to keep up!) well there was this long corner, i took it about going 110 mph. and when i looked back to see where he was, he was not there. when i finished my lap. i waited and i could not see him, so i drove back around and what you know he slammed his car and got off the track. bu the was alright. the point is, you have to wait or have to break the tires in before they start to work.

p.s. my cousin said he was doing a 120-130 mph, when he lost it.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but your ability to detect sarcasm is uniquely dull.

it's not meant to insult anyone or their driving abilities, as i will attest that i'm a terrible driver(as in safe and cautious). just a little mild humor.

i know my ap1 doesn't have TC. but thanks for the info, i'll drive more cautiously around the bends.

I don't think g-force sports are terrible..... In fact I was considering picking up a set. It seems to be a good balance between value and traction, and since I purchased the car used with pretty much brand new zr-i's , it may seem to me anything would a substantial improvement.

I would agree with negcamber, releasing agent can be a hooker. I learned that the hard way in my old WRX with fresh RE-90's (or maybe that was just lack of talent )

Traction control=silly idea for the S, it doesn't have that much power, and it shouldn't be driven by noobs. Sorry if that sounds snobby, it's because I am an S2000 snob, and I'm not ashamed. I know when I see another ap1 going quickly, that the individual is (must be) a capable driver.

I know the limits of the car and my tires, I don't need a computer making that decision for me.
