Newbie asks some questions

j, give Aaron Slatt at Bellevue Honda a call (425)641-3770. He is a straight shooter and didn't try to bullsh!t me about anything. Wasn't the most informed but made every effort to get me accurate info.

Thanks for all the quick responses. What a nice list. :-)
Okay, sounds like I need to start looking now. I will start making some calls and report back. Either Red or Yellow for me.
I'm not looking at any other cars. I considered the Boxter but ruled it out because of repair/maintenance costs. Thought (briefly) about a Miata, but I want more performance.
What really did it for me was reading a recent comparo of the Boxter, M Roadster, TT-c and the S2K.
(Essentially) the same performance and 15-20k less with Honda reliability and engineering.
No brainer.

My Honda dealer is banking on a 2-year life for the current S2K - with a probable cut-off point of 10,000 units in the U.S.
The question is.....what are Honda going to do after that to fill the gap? I haven't heard of any major redesign plans for the current S2K - but they certainly aren't going to leave a void in the sports car arena considering that the S2K has been so lucrative for them. They are probably expecting that all us S2K owners will be itching to upgrade to a new, even sportier car by then.
My guess is that for the '01 year, Honda will rush out an S2K-NSX hybrid in the range of $45-50,000 MSRP (if you'll ever be able to get one at MSRP!) Any other guesses?

I asked a Honda assistant zone manager today how long they'd be making the S2K. Not a decisionmaker, no guarantee he knows the real deal. Anyway, he said that a third year is a possibility, under consideration. He doubts they will make it after that, they feel that a sports car platform should be changed every three years.
