Newbie here....Looking for some buying tips
Well it seems like I'm finally going to decide on getting the s2000 over the boxster- both are relatively fun cars, but the s2000's race-car inspired feel really made me choose the car.
I'm in a slight dilemna: Purchase a 2004 S2000 or purchase an older S2000. I know that the new motor is a 2.2L engine, but I'm not sure of how much of an advantage this will give over the older engine. For the money I save by purchasiing a older S2000, I can easily begin my modding. With the new S2000, I'll have to wait until I can save up some money to start modding.
Let me get some feedback from you guys, is the new 2.2L that much better than the older F20C 2.0L engine?

That's a big can-o-worms.
Depends on who you speak with. Previous model year owners hold onto the 9K redline as a major selling point, while the new 2.2l only reaches 8K but makes more mid-range torque.
Also, there are minor styling changes to the front and rear bumpers and lights, as well as some interior changes like a two cup holder and aluminum accents (if your into that). The suspension has been further tweaked (softened) to make it more driver friendly too.
Get behind the wheel of both. You may find you like one over another.
I'm keeping my 00 forever!
