02's and up have a glass rear window.

There's no real problems with any year S2k. Any issues which have arose have been dealt with through TSB's. Obviously the newer the better.

The glass window is in MY2002 and beyond. You can look through the TSB's to find the issues with the different years on the car on the home page of the site. Here are some of the highlights I can remember.

MY00
- initial model

MY01
- clock readout added to stereo

MY02-03
- glass rear window
- minor silver trim added to taillights, etc.
- leather center console, leather covered shift knob
- minor ECU tweak, supposedly +2-5hp
- tweater sidepods added to door
- front and rear springs and anti-roll bars softened
- mid-2002 improved oil jets used

MY04
- engine stroked to 2.2L, redline reduced to 8k rpm
- transmission gear ratios shortened 1-4, lengthed 5,6
- transmission synchros updated
- rear suspension softened, suspension retuned
- chassis strengthend, front A-arm mounts strengthened, rear differential strengthed
- EPS steering ratio reduced
- 17" wheels and OEM tires changed
- front, rear bumpers, headlights and taillights restyled
- door liner remoulded to add a little shoulder room
