Default Newbie with questions - Please be gentle :)

Hi, I'm a proud new owner of MY04 Silverstone 2 days ago. I've been reading the board for about two weeks before deciding on getting it. This forum rocks Here are some of my questions:

1) Shift knob vibrating at freeway speed. I've been driving automatic for the last 12 year and I don't ever recall when I drove manual the shift stick vibratate so much, am I the only one??

2) Still not quite use to driving such a high revving car. I find myself in 5th at 35-40mph, good or bad for car?? Avg rev, if there is any, from other members?? i.e. at 60mph, I'm at 3200rpm

3) Where do I get that cubbie bin orginizer from?? I've read about it but did see any link from who?

4) Road noise: will getting a hardtop reduce noise wintertime?? Also, anyone tried sound deadening around the wheel well and floor pan??

5) Outside temp gauge, anyone have a cool aftermarket that has been installed??

Thanks in advance for any reply to the above. Dave.

I can answer 1, 3, and 4. For #1, it is normal. It had been discussed about adding a ferrari-like shift-gate (that what you call it?) but decided the knob shakes too much to sit in a still position. For #3, Modifry (PM him) sells the organizer. And for #4, yes i heard that it removes a lot of the outside noise. I plan on getting one as soon as i save up a few grand.

Dave,

Try this thread. I think it will answer some of your questions about sound insulation.

1) Mine is MY04 also and my shift knob vibrating at all speeds for the first few hundred miles, it is vibrate much less now as it has 2800 miles on the odometer.

2) When the engine is cold in the morning, I tried to kept the engine speed between 2000 rpm and 3500 rpm at all gears. MY04 engine has a little more torque and lower ratios in the first 5 gears compares to MY00 - MY03, it is okay to cruise in heavy traffic at 35-40mph in 5th as it is above 2200 RPM, but if you need to accelerate at 35 mph, you should shift down to 4th to have good acceleration and do not get into any gear at below 2000 rpm.

For the outside temp, try PMing user: hecash He is a chicago owner and he installed an auto-dimming rear view mirror with compass and outside temperature. He's a nice guy and I am sure he will be happy to help you out.

First and foremost,

Welcome! You are correct about this board - It's a good one, to be sure...

Maybe you heard this a few times, so bear with me- Be sure to read your owner's manual and take to heart what it says regarding break-in, etc...

And secondly,

WELCOME!

1)normal, the shifter is directly connected to the tranny.
2) just don't lug the motor. as long as the rpm is >= 2500 rpm, you are fine in any gear.
