This is a nice post, Rich et al. But Colin, I didn't start the S2KCA by myself! Brad and Sondra were right along with me through that. And you guys are going gangbusters in Hawaii...Rick doing our brochure and being helpful in so many other ways. I got 3 more membership apps from you today...wow, you guys are great!

It is true that at least here in the Midwest, lots of friendships have been made. And yea, we talk about and do a lot of car-related stuff, but it's on the basis of friendship that all this stuff takes place. Something, again, that I never anticipated...but welcome.

I think, and I hope this doesn't sound self-serving, those who did attend S2KDays really felt a strong sense of camraderie that extended beyond the computer. At least for me, this was the second or third or fourth time I had seen some folks, so that was a great feeling, as well.

Anyway, nice post...it's cool to reminisce...

Takashi,

This sounds like a script for the S2kDays 2002 event! I can hardly wait to see all the S2000 community members once more.

At the S2kDays '01 event, I was very impressed with the diversity of the attendees. When I mention diversity, I'm talking about AGE, GENDER, RACE, PROFESSION, Greg Stevens and many more. Everybody seemed to get along without having to put up a front. That was the most "natural" bunch of diverse people I have ever been around. Some people never get to experience something this special. We are a unique group with a certain personality trait that brought the S2000 into our lives for one reason or another. As Lips2000 once posted jokingly in a thread, "WHY CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG?"

Well, I think we all really do get along.

Thanks to Cthree for hosting our little community, the moderators for keeping the peace, and for the S2ki Club that keeps the S2000 future alive with more exciting adventures.

And thanks most of all, to the individual members of the board that keep the information streaming for others to see. We would be as clueless as most dealerships if we didn't have www.s2000online.com .

I took delivery in Nov. '99 and by January I was searching the net looking for people to share the enthusiasm for the car with others (especialy when the ice storms kept the car in the garage).

I remember mingster realizing he could make some money when he started selling the DP and the Windscreen. Remeber all of "sightings" that were posted just to find out if there was another owner in your area? There have been a few oldies that moved on (they probably got lives ) .

Any time a newbie joins by announcing his S2000 purchase, everyone jumps in and congratulates him/her. Even folks wishing or waiting for an S2000 are accepted.

It's amazing how large the community is now. Hopefully it will keep growing!

I took delivery on December 31, 2000 in Eugene, Oregon. I had not even seen the car or sat in it or anything before I cut the check and signed my name. I remember walking out to the delivery area with the guy to see it. It was Sunday morning, the air was crisp and clean and the sun was just stretching itself out. The morning dew was starting to dry. As soon as I saw it I said to myself, "man, that is one nice car". It was so, so red I thought it was bleeding. I sat in it and boy did it feel good. Only it took a while because the dealer kept wanting to show me this and that and show me how to operate all the switches and everything. I was getting kind of impatient but he was only doing his job and going through his little check list. Then we both got in and I we took it for a "test drive" (yeah, AFTER I had already paid for it, talk about being a Honda faithful). I will always remember that feeling of starting it for the first time and then driving off the lot onto the road, top down, clean air, clean sounding engine, the smell, the feel, aaahhh.

Funny thing is, its been 8 months now and the car still feels and smells very new, since i've only put on a little over 2000 miles. But nothing can bring back that initial feeling of sitting in it for the first time and driving off because now every time I get in, I already know what its going to be like. But its a rush nonetheless.

Ok..uh, where was I going with this? Oh yeah, the forums. So, I joined the forum shortly after and have since made friends and learned a ton of stuff about the car. Good stuff here.

Here's another take.....following up on Mingster's nostalgic post. As you can see from the # of posts, I don't chime in a lot.....but I'm on the site almost every day and have been since picking mine up in 12/99. It's really a great way to find out info about anything S2000. Too bad about the occasional nasties and flamers. Getting involved with a couple of East coast drives this year has been neat....good chance to meet others. I bought the 7/100k warranty, so I have at least 5.25 years to go (and 85k miles )

I'm proud to be an Oldie I feel like I know you all, and appreciate what we have. Hell, I've opened up more to you guys/girls then I do with most people I see face to face. I've made some good friends through our S2K meets, where we can call each other up and say how's it going.
I'm still shocked how a car could bring people together. I love it, and with out this board, I'd be bored out of my mind!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm a newbie, but this car, club, and online board has to be one of the best experiences I've had. I cannot believe how much I learned about our cars (and other things) from this board alone. I have a large amount of enthusiasm for my car and help to promote the S2KCA club and s2ki.com to new owners I meet. I simply cannot believe how much time I spend on a daily basis reading through the threads on this board. My wife thinks I'm crazy, but I love it! Thanks Cthree!!!

Yeah, the board is great. I lurked, unregistered, at h-a.net and then here for quite sometime before I bought my car and joined in Oct 2000.

As far as people being cold, Ive found that to be quite the opposite. Im bad with names and I know the names, faces, and aliases of at least 25 people in the bay area and a good 10 from other regions, thats a lot of people, and we can get a good number of them together for lunch or dinner with less than 48hours notice (the promise of Margaritas helps, Im sure).
