Hi folks

I just spoke with Gil at Vortech, and will be taking a drive up there in the next few weeks. They are driving the test car to put enough miles on it for CARB certification but have not yet run it through the 1/4, nor have they put it on a dyno yet.

Vortech, like Comptech uses a centrifugal style supercharger rather than a Roots type. Vortech is hoping for price to consumer in the mid $4000 range.

Sounds good!

Thanks for the info! That sounds great. I'm curious to see what the Dyno says.

Is there a need for an upgrade of the drive train, transmission, clutch ... for the S to take on this new found horsepower? And if so, what would be the added cost. Thanks.

2x6speeds -

thanks for the post and update. i'd really be interested to hear your report back from your planned visit.

those are some impressive #'s at an impressive price. it's even got a decent warranty. i've heard good things about the vortech kit for the last gen Civic SI so i'm pretty anxious to see how this pans out.

be well amigo and keep us updated.

I think those with Comptech units have found that there are drivetrain weaknesses under those loads. Comptech has an upgraded differential, there are HD clutches out there, HD LSDs, not sure about axles. The S2000 is not made for smoking burnouts whether supercharged or not. I figure if you drive it reasonably, your drivetrain should hold up pretty well, and to the extent it doesn't, I think you can forget about your warranty covering it.

Da Hapa! How are ya! Perhaps we should take that drive up there together if you're interested. Hope all is well.

I know this is a long term debate but I'm of the opinion that the damage to the diffs has more to do with very high momentary force cause by popping the clutch at 8k. It's just that the force transferred in this situation an order of magnitude higher than the force the drive shaft sees under normal full throttle acceleration, supercharged or not.

It may just happen that if the MG Racing roots super-charger works as hoped people can successfully launch the car at much lower rpm without bogging, so for the clutch poppers a supercharged car may actually end up being less damaging for the drivetrain. . .
