Default The next generation S2000

If fate may have it that there will be a next generation S2000 what features would you like it to have. What kind of engine, transmission, dimensions, features, etc. would you like Honda to equip the next S with. Remember it has to compete with the new Boxster, 350 Z roadster, new M roadster, SLK 350, new Miata, and the Elise.

faster 4 cycl engine! say about 280-300+ hp and most of all don't change the body style of the car to much! and keep the name the same if they have to add some hing to the name like S2000-R or something also keep the rpm's high...i know i know never going to happen and more colors!

If it's still the S2000:

- higher trunk lid to increase the trunk space

- adjustable headrest and thigh support in the seat

- mirror on the back of the driver's side visor for lady drivers, and sliding covers for both mirrors

That's about it; the S2000 is pretty close to perfect for what it is.

If it's an S2000 replacement:

- make it a hybrid with a smaller single speed engine, maybe a turbine, for the power to run at speed and a big electric motor for acceleration and regenerative braking.

In my opinion Honda should increase the status of the s2000 and add the following:

Roof should hide itself under a cover when opened.
There should be options like navigation system, fulll leather trim, seat heating, automatic aircond., useful stereo system (Bose / Harmann Kardon / whatever)
They should add traction/stabilization systems that can be swithed off completely for track use.
Honda should go for 6 Cyl engine producing 300 HP out of 3 L. The engine should be equipped with dry sump - maybe it should even be a boxer engine to keep the center of grav. low.

slightly wider stance w/ more fender so we don't have to worry about insanely high offsets on on rear wheels and a slightly beefier clutch/tranny/rear-end to accompany an optional small-displacement v6 or i6 powerplant good for at least 300 horses and some tweaking and tuning to make the 6 cylinder version handle as close to the 4 as possible. the boxer style engine wasn't a bad idea but who knows if that is possible. i'd like to see the same frame and body lines utilized as the current car but i wouldn't mind a slightly bulging hood if thats what it takes to squeeze a 6 in there.

i wouldn't mind some luxurious options either. maybe offer packages similar to the 350z so racers can get a track version and others can get heated seats and navigation as they please.

that would work for me, make it wider/flatter, but keep the cockpit tight. perhaps n automatically retracting hardtop ala the SLK?

w/ the hyrbid idea, could it be as powerful as our cars now, I mean I dont follow the hybrid stuff too much, but it seems that an electric motor would just be weak, when we want soemthing faster (oh and still w/ the uber highrevs.. 15000rpms, anyone?)

If I had my way?

Make CD optional, AC optional, power windows optional and Hardtop Optional from factory. Lighter wheel and track ready coil spring optional from factory. Advan tires optional. Fabric race seat optional.

Take the weight down to about 2,400lbs

Bump it up to 270HP (I assume Honda doesn't want to intrude on NSX power figures). MORE torque. 2.4L engine?

Tonneau cover like the one on the Boxster.

Userful sun visors

Better cupholders

Brembo brakes and slotted rotors

Speakers moved away from door and onto top of dash

Coupe version

Wider stance

Navigation option
