I went into the dealer on Saturday to look into reserving a blue s2k and one salesman said that the 2003 wont have any changes from the 2002 and another said that he wasn't sure Honda was going to be producing a 2003 s2k? Which is it and is it true they are discontinuing the Suzuka Blue or the entire car? and Finally they are telling me that lease payments increase the later in the year that the lease begins? Doesnt make sense to me. any advice or help?

You are better off to lease at the beginning of the model year if the price is the same (MSRP vs MSRP either time), the residual is calculated from model year, not year purchased - so when 03s come out the 02s would be 1 model year older with a lower residual value. You are paying for the difference between the sales price and the residual plus interest and any other deposits or expenses.

Your goal when leasing is to get the lowest price and the highest residual with a reasonable interest rate variable.

 

That makes perfect sense concerning the lease. Anyone have any info on the 2003? I see that some people have a 03 already ordered. My dealer acts like Honda might discontinue it, something about combining it with the discontinued prelude line or are they just trying to pressure me into buying an 02??

 

Exactly what they're trying to do.

 

1. Yes - there will be Suzuka Blue for 2003

2. Yes - they are making S2000's for 2003

3. Yes - they are pressuring you to purchase an S2000 now.

 

I agree with the last two posts.

It seems that probably 50% of people when they bought their S2000's were told that the model year they were buying was going to be the last one !!

Some people on this board have recevied copies of the colour charts for the 2003 models already, so I think it is safe to say that they will not be discontinuing either the Suzuka Blue or the car itself.....
