Yeah, a cop on my team says going to court is a lot easier than patroling and they get a bonus to show up. I have never heard of a cop not showing in court, its an urban myth.

I got pulled over twice for that, at exactly the same location by the same cop, between 2-3am saturday night, 6 months apart.
Both times he said to just bolt it on next morning, hahaha, lucky he didnt remeber from the first time, lol!

That does not work in CA, you will still get a ticket. It can be dangerous in an accident, i would not want a hard metal object at eye level flying around my car.

Barney Fife in my neighboring town just nailed me for no front plate. There were no other transgressions. He was on a revenue generating mission - and told me so! "They just want the money", his exact words. Putting the plate on and taking a picture wouldn't cut it. I paid the fine and was done with it - $54. I put the plate back on. New Jersey MV code says you have to have all the plates they send you on your vehicle in a vertical position. I hope my new Rick's front license plate mount is vertical enough for them.

[QUOTE=mknightx,May 27 2006, 08:25 AM] lets me go with just that "no front plates" ticket and I'm happy with no ticket for speeding or exhaust (Invidia). But I got a letter in the mail a few days ago to pay that fine and its $135 fine

Um,

The ticket for no front plate is a fix it ticket. All that you need to do is have any police officer sign off your ticket after reinstalling your front plate. After this is complete, you will need top pay a $10 fine to have it dismissed.

As far as cops not showing to court, I on more than one occasion have had a cop not show so this is clearly more than "urban myth."

cops in new york tend to notice it more when it's in the window...it tells them that u purposely dont want the plate on the bumper. i drive with my plate on the passenger floor, or under the seat, in the event i get pulled over....i just say that someone backed into it and it was hanging by one bolt, so i removed it so it doesnt fall off, they usually just tell me to put it on next time, and let me go
