rajun... how did you mount your front plate like that? anything special needed to do that?
Nothing special needed. You don't even need to remove the front bumper. I had the bumper off to clear the headlights but I had the plate mounted waaayy before I decided to clear the lights. It would make it alot easier if the bumper was off though.

It's hard to be sympathetic since you got caught red-handed doing something you knew was illegal. Plus the cop let other violations slide. Still, a hundred bucks seems like too stiff of a penalty. I'd put the plate on and try to get it dropped in court.

It's a shame that Honda didn't take front plates more into consideration when the car was designed. A plate holder molded to match the vehicle's front would be much better than the lame bracket provided. The S2000's stock holder really looks ghetto and cheap. That's Honda's fault, not the CHP's.

Take comfort that you're not driving a Solstice. The front plate holder on that was obviously a complete afterthought and truely looks like CRAP!

Luckily, I live in a small enough town that the cops just let it slide, bout the only thing they bust people on are the norms, real traffic violations or if you are stupid enough to rev an invidia in front of them or something. I also think they stereotype in the sense that if I was driving a lowered riced out civic, they may do something about no front plates.

wow you sure he only wrote you up for the plate. Minimum fine for speeding is around 120-125 in CA, and no plate is around 10-20. I sounds kinda like he wrote you up for both. If it's just the front plate ticket then fight it. Get your plate on and go to court, most likley he won't show up anyway.

If it was only for the plate then it should be no where near that much.

I already shaved the holes in my bumper for the front license plate, so I just attach one with double sided tape, take a picture, and take it off again.

Ding ding ding.. you get an automatic 4 hours of over-time if it is on your day off even if you are only there for 30 minutes.

BTW.. 90% of the people in this thread have NO idea what they are talking about.

I just got puulled over in socal for not having front and rear plates. Of course I just installed my cf trunk to drive around to see if there are any rattles or anything of that sort. There goes my 2 year streak.
