It's usually hundreds of dollars and the point is to target street racers basically trying to make it as expensive as possible to do there thing. Works fairly well.

REF stations are shut down here BUT you can still get fix it tickets..
IT is YOUR job to request a extension untill the ref stations come back.. OR else you will be fined lots of money...

SO you will still get REF tickets
