So I've had my '07 for about 2 weeks now, and there is a noise that I noticed only apparent at 2.5K-3K RPM or lower. It is a low pitch whirring noise that is coming from the back. From reading the posts in the searches it sounds like differential noise but I have never owned a car with a LSD so I wouldn't know what a differential would sound like. Can someone shed some light on this as a sanity check for me please?

 

I just pretend that its a supercharger and feel like a BAMF!

With owning this car, don't get too picky and worried about all the little noises you will be hearing. Trust me, (and I think I can speak for almost everyone here), this car makes a lot of different little noises. As another member told me earlier, don't get caught up on a noise you just now noticed. It may have been there the whole time, but once you notice it, it will worry you sick till you think its fixed. Its 99% the differential as Ive heard numerous stories in regards to this (myself included), and there is nothing to really worry about whatsoever. Now get your keys, go outside, and go drive your car!!!

I hear it on decel before disengaging the clutch and normal cruising around 2500RPM.

To me the noise isn't really a problem as long as I know that its suppose to be making that type of noise. Also like I said before I've never had an LSD so I've no idea what it sounds like and its my DD so I would hate to have it out of commission and I would have to drive the minivan to work.

I have an '07 also, and I can hear mine at around 1.5k-2k.
I think we're fine.

The S also makes some little whining noises from the engine, and tranny. I noticed it on my previous S and now my current.

Like stated above, this car does make tons of noises. Just enjoy it!

 

I have it on my 07 too I think, but it shouldn't be anything to worry about. I also just pretend it's a supercharger
