Can someone describe more regarding this sound? Mine has this "whir! whir!" sound at a certain point in almost every gear. At 3rd gear interestingly whenever I'm travelling at 47km/h (between 2500~3000 rpm), I hear this strange noise but if I go above or beyond that speed, the noise is gone. It's hard to describe that noise by typing.

I think I have the same thing. I was able to produce this noise fairly consistently today while driving to work. I was in 3rd at around 3000 RPM, and whenever I let off the gas, I could hear it. It sounds almost like a manual car sounds like when going in reverse, except not as high pitched.

It is probably just the gears making noise, its completely normal when you have a race car transmission

Ever watch rally and how much noise their transmission make?!?

I have already learned to live with the noise. I got a few people who are experienced mechanics and they said there is nothing to worry about. My solution for this since its only noticable while at low RPM because the sound is feint, you can either rev higher and drown it out or turn up the radio. Unless the noise is getting louder there are no worries. I'm just now happily enjoying the car.

it's your motor , that means your car is running... all cars make that noise..
except for that damn Prius during acceleration from stand still, hehe...

Sorry to resurrect, but I have this same noise and its worrying me to death. I have an 04 and have only had the car for the better part of 4 months. Its between the op's exact rev range and sounds like a low pitch whirring or grinding and occurs upon decel as well as very partial throttle holding speed, not on accel. I can't hear it at higher revs, I have an exhaust now so I can barely hear it when it does occur. I wasn't able to hear it at higher revs when I did not have an exhaust either. I had an acquantaince of mine listen to it who works on nissans and he told me it was the trans making noise and not to worry, but I don;t know. It seems like it has become worse since I bought the car.

I guess what I'm looking for is alot of reassurance. I'm paranoid of noises and this car makes a bunch..... The valve tap when it starts is killing me too.....I won't drive it until the motor is warm enough for the noise to go away....but thats for a different thread.
