Get the Hondata stock re-flash I did and love it. My redline is now 8500 and my Vtec is 5600, the extra torque is great when driving in the twisties and the car just seems way quicker.Feels like a different car in a real good way.I love this car its more fun than my 335i!
335s and RS4 are very nice and fast... but the S2k wins for fun!

i was waiting for someone to mention the CR and how some idiot will go about arguing to everyone in the forums that its the best s2000 ever made
I hope I'm wrong and that it doesn't happen, but what are the odds?
The CR is going to be a very sweet addition to the S2000 line, but I've already decided that I'd rather pick and choose between the CR parts and only use the ones (if any) that will change my AP1 in ways I want it changed. I bought the car in part becaue it's a roadster, and I'm not about to give up the ragtop.
Maybe the CR will actually put and end to some of the bickering. There is probably going to be more difference between the CR and all other versoins of the car than there is between your MY06 and my MY00, and it's probably going to be the quickest and fastest S2000 ever, so it's going to be a lot harder for owners to think they have the absolute best S2000 for all purposes. It's going to be very sad if CR owners have to put up with the kind of stuff the rest of us have to put up with sometimes.
We'll see how it goes, and I hope we do better than we've done in the past.
From the tone of this thread it looks like most of the people here have a balanced perspective, which is, IMHO, a nice change.

isnt a good supercharger around 5k?
i could see where a super charger would be really nice... but i like the sound and feel of turbo... then again what do i know? never been in a sc'd car... just drove my friend's evo and loved it
Yea, an SC/AC will run around $5k and take a day to install if all goes according to plan. The superchargers are plug-and-play, in that you just bolt them on and go, without having to worry about tuning. Almost everyone does make at least one trip to the dyno to make sure the AFR is OK after the install, but some don't, and I'm not aware of anyone ever having any problems because they didn't check the ARF after a Comptech or Vortech install. However, IMO, it's better to be safe than sorry.
I like turbos too, and the centrifigual blowers are quite different, so you might want to drive a supercharged car before laying out $5k.

Hey, no foul, he has bought a car that he doesn't like. And we can all relate to that, and can agree that the worst thing he can do is settle for less. For example, if I really wanted a Black car, but alls the dealer could get me was an Orange car, and if I bought it, I'd be kicking myself everytime I went out to drive it. I'd be thinking "why did I buy a chick color". My neighbors would see me drive by and think I was ghey. It's certainly a pretty color to look at, but drive it? No way.
Now that I think about it, I could cry foul, and say that he is trolling. This is the one sure way to get 3 pages of repeated surly debate, and he's been here long enough to know better.
LOL, I may not have been clear enough. I think he likes the new car better than the old one, but doesn't like EVERYTHING about it better. That's certainly no foul, and something we should all be able to understand. I think the latches on the S2000 top are comical in the way they're designed, and see them as a PITA compared to every other roadster I've owned, but that sure doesn't mean that I don't love the car.
He's going to adjust to the things he misses and forget all about them eventually. I'd almost bet on it.
I have no idea of whether or not he was trolling, but the thread doesn't seem to have as much of the foolishness some of the similar threads have had. Probably becasue too many people who have actually owned both cars have taken part, but I hope it's a trend. I'm not sure I'd know a troll if it came up and bit me in the butt.

So you can put a ap1 ecu on an ap2 and have a higher redline and not blow the engine???
No, the AP1 and AP2 have the same engine except in the US, where the AP2 has the F22C, which is the engine with the lower redline. You can run the US spec F22C to 9k by installing any F20C ECU that is compatible with the car (but of course there are issues with things like DBW).
But yes, you can spin a US spec F22C to 9k, and have the same rev limit the rest of the world got in their AP2's, without blowing up the engine. A few of the guys here have already done it.
I never test drove the car prior to buying it. Imola Orange was very rare and I had to order it last June so I could be guaranteed of getting it. I traded my 2002 Suzuka that same month. I was merely saying that Honda should not have caved in to pressure from the "average driver" and develop (IMO) a softer S2000. They could have kept the 2.0 liter, 9K redline like they did in the remainder of the world, but they didn't. I don't hate my new car. I love it.....but I miss certain aspects of the AP1. That's all.
While a lot of your points are valid, you have WAY too much time on your hands discussing basically the same thing over and over and over in dozens of posts on a few specific threads.
Go out and enjoy your cars instead of spending time on the internet waxing poetic about their virtues forgotten long ago because they're so old.
