I'm sorry, but this tech must be one of those guys at the dealer who tries to rotate your tires, leaves your oilpan drain plug loose or your oil filter loose or your oil fill cap off. He's probably the same one who takes your car out for a test drive and does a burnout in the back lot. He's probably the one who put VTM-4 fluid in your diff or 0W20 oil in your engine.
I'm going step out onto a limb here and say ......................... He's an idiot.

Good post Xviper !! I always thought that it was up to me to know when to shift right and the closer i got to 9k was the closer i'm pushing the eninge to killing it self. Which means at times i have to keep one eye glued to the Tach one glued to the road...very frustrating..My other car was a Civic SI, it has a Hondata ecu on it that disable the fuel cut off fuction...i can always go to 9k if i want to...which i knew was damaging to the engine....thanks.
Drive it like you stole it ! Always liked those words. I posted a message couple of months ago titled "Revs in the bank". There are times I baby my S2K to save it for the numerous times I VTEC it, like the time I had to blow off that Eclipse, then the 350Z, then the Z3, then the ..... This is a great dual purpose car that does both very well, hard or soft, as the mission requires.

Quote from Jeremy Clarkson from TOP GEAR on BBC, "Honda has made 50 million Vtec engines and have NOT one failure. NOT one." Of course, user error does not count such as down shifted over 9k for ap1 or 8k for ap2. I have a civic Si before S2k and I accidently hit cruise control in neutral, it rev well over 10k for a split second and now my engine is at 90k, it is running as smooth as ever. I vtec on that all the time since it is not as quick as the S and just sounds good. There has been no mechanical problem with engine, tranny ever. I don't compare b16 to f20 but I think they designed vtec to be used.
