It could also be that someone has intentionally hidden the VIN. I know several people on this site and many of my friends who have taped over the VIN by the windshield. Apparently thieves and scammers can use them to sell same model damaged or flooded cars or parts?

Yup, it looks like the VIN is incomplete!

The owner was able to provide me the VIN from his insurance papers, and the other body parts have the VIN on them. I'm just wondering why the one on the windshield seems incomplete! Is this normal? There doesn't seem to be any indication that it was scratched off or anything!

Are you sure it just isn't really faded? My VIN is a lot more faint after the 1st few characters

I would post a pic, but i'm not near my car!

Either this pic is photoshopped or the car has been stolen before. You can clearly see it's still got a Honda OE windshield on it.
