Now that you've met other drivers...
For those of you that have met other owners, do you have a sense of connection with them just because you own the same car? Do you feel that there is a common personality type that buys this car? Are these questions too esoteric for this board?
1) Yes, there is a connection to fellow owners. Part of it is a common enthusiasm for the car and part of it is the fact we have shared a lot of fun (Laguna Seca, weekends in the mountains, drives to LA for Irvine meets, taking apart each other's cars).
2) Until 6 months ago, most of the owners were similar: educated, obsessed, willing to teach and learn from others. A lot of the old posters with knowledge don't read the forums much anymore because the same threads keep being posted (how many times do we have to argue that the DC header gives zero power anywhere in the powerband?).
Did I just say that Bieg and Josh3io were similiar? I must be on crack.

By in large, the active membership on this board are usually pretty obsesses with their S2000's, and thus we do have some connection with them. i agree that the older members who do not post as much anymore were far more educated and shared the common experience of finding issues and learning about the cars together. heck, how many new owners did not find their "secret compartment" until they read about it here?
Yes, having a chance to get together with local owners in the Bay Area AND at several events such as S2KCA's Laguna Seca event and S2KI's Thunderhill event also helps. Most owners are still pretty cool people that happen to own a great car. The connection defintiely exists.
...but as for josh3io and bieg being the same?

hey I am 10-15 years younger then most owners but they all seem cool to me. I even go out to lunch every once and a while with some owners, but got to say the runs are the best.
Heck I have met some really cool people with my car it's been the best purchase I have made in a long time.

I met alot of owners on the s2k days thing last weekend for the 1st time. There is a great connection. I thought to myself ok how come there aren't any idiot kids here. Guess what, few or no idiot kids, just alot of good intelligent people who know a good thing!

One of the qualities I really like about this owner group is the incredible variety of people I meet. This is not a predictable group of people and the fact that the S2000 is a performance, not a status purchase, basically rules out a lot of the intolerable a**holes who live their lives trying to be superior to everyone else. This is a down-to-earth bunch and most have no pretensions. Imagine, on the other hand, how intolerable many in a group of Lexus owners would be.
I've been to many meets and I definitely feel a common connection with the other owners that I meet. The crowd is so diverse, yet the car brings us all together. There is no common personality that buys this car. People from all walks of life buy this car.
