Okay, I paid MSRP for my red/black 2000 model a few months ago. Anyhow, I have keyless entry, and the little panic button. Also, the car beeps when you press the LOCK button twice. Do I have the OEM alarm or just the immobilizer system that is on every Honda. If I don't have the "real OEM alarm" then I need to get one. Thanks!

hype,

You have the standard immobilizer system which comes with every S2k.

hype, check for a little red LED somewhere in your car...if you don't have that, then you don't have the security system.

blinking LED should be next to hand brake lever.

Key fob for factory alarm should have option button instead of trunk icon, lock and unlock buttons glossy instead of matt finish.

At least that's the way mine is.

Not necessarily, mine is on the right side of the dash directly across from the cruise control button. I guess it depends on who installs it.

Feel around under the driver's seat. If there is a box there, you have the alarm. If not you don't. The stock alarm sucks BTW, go aftermarket.

Okay, well I just have the immobilizer system (no alarm!). Crap. Alright, so should I go aftermarket or with factory Honda. Here's why I ask: I have a $5000 garantee that the car can't be stolen. This is an agreement with Honda and some third party warranty company. Due to this, if I was to use an aftermarket alarm, would my factory immobilizer system not be operating? If that is the case, then would that possibly void the garantee? Putting on the factory OEM alarm add on would not, you see. What do you guys think?

Hype,
IMO..Dont bother with an alarm...the only way anyone is going to get your car is by flat bedding it away...and if someone wants it bad enough, no alarm will stop them from getting it. Only question is do you want the car back after it is stolen. If so, put in a Lojack or other alarm system where the car's location can be tracked.

Yeah, well, I would NOT want it back if stolen. I had a Pontiac Firebird of mine stolen years ago when I was in high school. They ragged it for 6 days and left it abandonded. Totally screwed up too. The car was never the same again. I don't know if I'll bother since I don't have anything "aftermarket" on the vehicle to begin with.
