I think the stock note is too quiet. Installing an exhaust (even though the hp gain is probably negligible) is one of the mods I enjoy the most.

I'm just about to turn 18,500 miles on my 2001, and it might just be my imagination, but I think my exhaust note has gotten a little louder. I have also removed my spare tire cover to carry some stuff and I think this made the exhaust note a little louder as well (I could be totally wrong about this though).

I've noticed this with other exhaust systems also, over time the exhaust will age and detiororate, allowing more sound out of the tailpipe. I like a little exhaust noise personally.

I enjoy it also but was curious if a header or test pipe might be enough to wake it up just a little more. I just turned the 18k mark with mine as well and I think it is become slightly more pronounced. I wish there were a few members in my area that had installed an exhaust system to hear though.

I still have the stock exhaust but a year ago I cut out the resonator and put in a straight pipe. It is still quiet but now it has a nice , very slight deep hum!

Hey,
Will you please go into more detail, because I like the description of your sound. Sounds like that's what I'm looking for.

Thanks.

The next time you are under the car, take a look at the exhaust piping (after the cat I believe?) and you will see a ~6" pipe that comes off the main exhaust piping. It doesn't go anywhere, it's capped. But it does have a dramatic effect on the exhaust note. I think some people are getting this piece cut off, and then welding a plate over the hole.

on another note, does anyone know what that "T" pipe under the passesngers seat is for? Can that be cut out and capped off to make a little more noise also? Looks like it just might be another type of resonator!
