Default OEM Hardtop Owners

I'm installing my HT tomorrow and before I do I have a question. On the back of the top there are 2 tabs. From what I can tell these tabs are what keep the soft top down, do they do anything else? Do they help align the top? I'm asking because I really don't like being able to see them through the window and if all they do is keep the soft top down then I plan to remove them. My soft top is gutted so if that's all they are... bye~bye

They just hold the soft top down???
Or do they also help align the top???

They keep the soft top from bouncing around and in the event of a failure in the soft top defeat mechanism, they also prevent the soft top from being raised. They don't contribute to any sort of HT alignment. If you don't have a soft top, there is no longer any reason to have those.
