Default OEM rear spoiler: Drill required or not??

I'm thinking about to add an OEM trunk spoiler. I wonder if drilling is required? or.... just stick the spoiler on the trunk with double side tape and some really strong glue?? thanks for the help

The cars from the dealership that Ive seen all had bolts from the bottom of the trunk which suggest that holes were made. However, there may be good tape or glue that you may use to avoid any drilling.

wouldn't sticking it ruin the paint on the trunk? so you would need to repaint it later anyways, and if you leave the spoiler on the trunk for a period of time, the paint where the spoiler is might look different than the parts that aren't covered because of all the sun it got?

Drilling is required for the sides but you can probably get away with double sided tape in the middle.

I'd be very careful about deviating from Honda's mounting instructions. They've been mounting these things a lot longer than we have. Don't underestimate the forces acting on that spoiler at speed. I understand you're desire to minimize the number of holes drilled into the body of the car but I'd think it's better than the potential damage done if that spoiler lets go two months down the road when the wind rips it off.

Go to http://www.handa-accessories.com/
and check out the OEM spoiler. Mounting instructions are available in PDF format.
I bit the bullet and had the dealer install mine after some spirited haggling on price.
Looks great.

Just drill (all) the holes. It's no big deal and all of them are necessary for a solid mount.
