That, and it's also a great way to turn your S into one big dutch oven, the likes of which no passenger can escape.


P.S. This does tend to upset the wife, but for some odd reason, it doesn't stop me from doing it.

 

They would have implemented it better though. My '93 impreza has a switch like this as well but from the driver controls I can still operate the passenger window but the passenger cannot operate it. All they had to do was put the break in the wiring in a different location.

 

I've also never understood that - I mean if it is for kid-related safety, many kids shouldn't even be in the passenger seat because of the airbag.


And yes, I know bigger kids can be PITAs too

 

When I first got my S, I always assumed that it was a de-activation button for the passenger airbag. You don't want to have the passenger airbag go off if you have a small child in the car (in a carseat). My '99 and '01 Miatas both had these switches to de-activate the airbag, so I just assumed... would make more sense than a window lock though.
