I would let them keep it, way better deals to be had. Car is nice though. I didn't pay near that for my Corvette!

If I had to guess, $17k-$20k. If it's super clean, I might go up to $22K. Hardtop's are rare and in demand. Sounds like a nice car. Hope this helps.

Location plays a big part in pricing. Where you're located should probably also be mentioned. Here in the Pacific Northwest, a clean 2008 model with around 60K miles being sold by a dealer would probably be priced in the mid-20s (or more). That's not including a hardtop.

Took it to the shop, the car threw a CEL between when i looked at on monday to today and came out with a P0420, and a P0430, minor rust, and a battery malfunction code. I couldn't get down to $8000, but agreed on 8200. Compression on all 4 were good. 3 in the 220's and one in 215. mechanic stated, he needs to delve into it a little more to figure out if a new CAT is needed. Cat's seems pricey.....

Thanks, I came to the same conclusion. I waited a bit longer and bought an '04 a few weeks later with less miles for $19k.

Funny you mention the Vette, I bought my C5 back in 2010 for less than I paid for my S2000. Kind of wild.

I've only had the Z for 3.5 years and have had the S2k for almost 9.

Glad to see another member of the Vette and S2k Club. Hate to say it but if I had to sell one, the Vette would go before the S2k.

That said, to me, there is nothing better as a daily driver than a C5.

The previous s2000 that I was planning to buy had a lost title so we're currently dealing with that headache, but in the mean time saw this on a local craisgslist.

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/c...246122568.html

Good deal? has a lot of the stuff that i want, but just a little higher in mileage than i was looking for.

Hello,
I have the opportunity to buy an 2002 S2000 currently owned by my mother in law. I have always admired the car and she is finally ready to sell. It currently has 42000 miles and is excellent condition except for a bit of wear on the drivers seat. I have been driving it for a few weeks and recently took it to get inspected at the dealership. There were no issues except for a sway bar link that will need to be replaced soon. It has been garage kept and she bought it new. I am considering offering her 17k for the car as that is the listed KBB value. I want to offer her a fair price but don't want to offer too much. I would be interested in any thoughts on the value. I am in Virginia Beach, Virginia and very excited about ownership.

Here are some pictures of the car if interested. Some were taken in my garage as the weather was bad.

I really love the suzuka blue colour- although others disagree. Some would pay more for a certain colour.
What is the production date?- Remember the 4 hole banjo bolts came on stream 1/2 way thru the production in 2002- for me, its a deal breaker.
Crack the valve cover open and check the valve retainers- heck, while you got it open, do a valve adjustment too for your mother in law.
do a wet compression test.
clean history?

So, if all checks out, $17,000 sounds about high side of market correct (little on the high side perhaps for suzuka blue). But, she is your mother in law- and if she really loves you- i'd offer $14000 for the family discount price- 14 is fair. now, I'd ask her what she wants to get out of the car first before you go throwing your money around.

good luck
