you meant the knob?

it's different..

ap1 (earlier ones) had a metal knob (different shape from cr), the ap2 had that stick type with the leather wrap, and the cr looks like this.

You are correct, the knob is the only mechanical difference between the base and the CR shifters. The knob on the CR is counter sunk 13mm (1/2") which shortens the overall stroke by about 3mm (1/10"). Not a lot, but it is noticeable to some drivers.

Personally, I just think the ball shape feels much more comfortable and controllable. This is why I had a 2" delrin ball shift knob on my AP1.

I was under the impression that there was a short shifter in CR models. If I can find that CR PDF somewhere, I'll post it up. In any case, I felt a very noticeable difference shifting the CR vs the base, but maybe it was because the base was pretty worked and now has 16k miles lol.

yep... that was me.. where are you living now? (i see a houston badge but was wondering if that's where you are now)..

Yes, I had moved back to Houston and am with the Houston chapter and we do group drives quite often here too. Those rims go so well with a berlina.

OK, here's the Official North American distributors scoop on Alcantara cleaning.

It is sggested you use a microfiber towel of similar color or white with plain water and dab the stained area repeatedly.

If it still persists, use a mild, colorless, soap or Woolite mixed 1:4 with water.

For very severe stains, dry cleaning fluid may be used. Dry cleaning fluid is very caustic to your skin and probably causes cancer, so use of that should be by a trained professional.

The official line on stain prevention is that the product is highly stain resistant as provided and does not require further protection.

Hope this helps.

I just got done at the honda dealership, and I just asked them what they use to clean it, and they told me the honda carpet cleaner, so six bucks later I have a spray bottle of honda carpet cleaner. I haven't used it yet, but I probably will try it in a small hidden spot first.

for some reason, that doesn't sound right to me though.

Thanks... I like these wheels too but yeah, I did like my TE37s better.. and 18" TE37s are definitely lighter than the OEM CR 17s
