A lot, since the shocks are specifically matched up to the springs...

Lowering any s2k on springs only will destroy the shocks...

Some one is making a spring for us that is the same as the CR spring but just gives it a 1-2 inch drop. I will look up who. I'm trying to get these springs once they are out

Any drop will shorten the shock's life, since at "neutral" (normal load, e.g. the car just sitting on a flat surface), the shock is not compressed the amount it should be. HOW much the shock's life will be shortened is anyone's guess, as there arn't exactly a lot of CRs around...

If you want to drop the car, get coils.

^ it's "Sdracing". you can find his post/my response to it on the top of page 71 of this thread.

you can easily just get a coilover sleeve that is compatible with stock dampers (like comptech or ground control) with similar spring rates. i doubt an inch lower will destroy the dampers at some accelerated rate.

I know two people who have already blown stock CR shocks from autocrossing.

I wouldn't take any chances messing with Honda Engineering.

Get some bigger wheels and tires if you want to eat up that fender gap.

I had mentioned this a while back, but I am in the process of getting some test pieces from CT Engineering that they MAY make for public sale. These use the stock dampers and springs but add adjustable machined perches similar to what CT and Skunk2 have done with some other suspensions in the past.

So, you maintain all the good parts of the S2000 suspension but can lower the ride height 2-3 inches if you like without destrying what Honda worked so hard to engineer into the car. If you go that far you'll need a realignment, but that SHOULD be it.

It should then handle just as well as the regular S2000 CR but with a lower center of gravity, better stance, less body roll, etc.. I am expecting delivery in a week or so and I am getting a "spare" set. Not sure how far away they are from public sale if at all.

Kinda funny, I am doing exactly that on my "new to me" 97 Del Sol that has a pretty baad speedo error with stock size tires. I'm going up 1.2" in diameter and expect to get my speedo back to within a mile per hour or 2, compared to the 8% error it has now. Added benefit is it will help fill the fairly large wheel wells for such a small car. Combine this with a mild drop using Skunk2 coilovers, snd it should look nad handle well.
