IMO, RE070 is actually really good in the rain for the type of tire it is. It definitely has more hydroplaning resistance than RE01R, RS3, and NT05. I'd venture RE-11, AD07/AD08 would be more prone as well...

i got 25K on the car and still on original re070 front and rear. thats with 2 autocrosses and handfulls of spirited driving. not to mention daily driving the car. i just don't abuse the tires when not necessary.

^^ Even the manual says you MAY get 10k miles out of the tires if you drive moderately... did you change your alignment?

Ran an event in 35 degree weather, pouring down rain...

The RE070s were a STELLAR tire, offering a TON of grip. If I kept a set of rain tires, the 070s would be high on the list.

I got 22k on my rear re070's but they were DONE. The fronts still have at least 50% and that's with 24k miles.

The re070's also did stellar for me in the continuous monsoon of an Oregon winter here and I DD the CR. They are a good tire in my opinion.

My latch rattle

41mph also happens to be where I get drivetrain/tire resonance in the cabin.... which I didn't remember till after I reviewed the video.... I just tune it out daily driving.
I have the same issue with my 2009. My car has around 9,000 miles on it and is less than a year old. I've only taken the top off three times.

I tried stuffing the EPT sealant into every nook and cranny of the latches/strikers/etc. No luck.

I took the car to a dealer and they started investigating it. They said they'll fix it under warranty, but it's taking them FOREVER. I took it in a little over a week ago and after 3-4 hours they came back and said, "We've confirmed the rattle... We need to call Honda."

I wanted to be upset that it took that long to just confirm a rattle that starts up during 99% of driving, but they said they'd do it under warranty.

Now I have to take it in again so that they can measure the latches properly to ensure they are aligned to factory spec. I'm sure that'll take another 6 hours. After that, I'll likely have to bring the car in for a third visit for the actual fix.

Looking back, I'm starting to wonder if...

1. ...the hardtop is worth it.
2. ...the dealership warranty fix is worth it.
3. ...I should just make more money and get an M3 coupe sooner rather than later.

Of all the problems I could have in life or with this car, this is definitely a small one. But damn, it's annoying as FAAAAAAACK!!

Either way, I'll keep y'all posted on how long it takes and how long the fix actually lasts. After this though, I'll likely just tap some local resources on the shoulder who have hardtops that don't rattle.

I had the same problem over the winter and it was so bad by early Spring I took it into the dealer. They had it for almost a week , but did manage to fix it. Just a few days ago it started creaking

I hadn't removed the roof since the first fix so I know it's nothing I did. Also kinda glad others are having the same problem so I know it wasn't from me just taking the top off. In all honesty I believe the roof was an afterthought as CR's do prefer to be topless or at least mine does. Much better driving experience w/o the roof.

nope. no change to alignment since i bought the car. like a said, i drive hard but try not to slip the tires. its a practice that theoretically translate to faster times at the track.

How many of you guys had s2000's prior to your CR's?

It seems like the latch rattle is a huge issue for many of you. Coming from having an older s2000 (MY06) and many friends with AP1's, the latches just...rattle. Its part of the car.

Hardtop or not, they will always have that rattle, the fix that was posted is a great one as well. There are many tremendous aspects that this car has that even the regular s2000's don't. I try to put a lot more weight on them Its a special vehicle.
