hi guys, Im fairly new to the s2k world and have been trying different mounting spots for my gopro. most recent was using a sticky mount on the rear wind delfector.. I liked the view, but it had some horrible vibration and rattling. I think the rattling is the camera inside the case, but the vibrations have to be the secret compartment lid. Is anyone else having this same kind of issue? I may try to figure out a way to keep the compartment lid from moving so much.

here is an example from the last race of our auto-x season (excuse the crap driving, it was only my 3rd event in the car)

now the same exact mount at deals gap. no changes at all, just not as aggressive as the autoX. Much less vibration or rattling. Maybe the road surface has more to do with it than I expected.

Alright, I've been through this dilema before and found a great solution for my autox and track videos. I use the GoPro HD on top of a custom mount on the secrete compartment and I sync the audio with an external microphone (Zoom H2 mic) to get rid of most of the wind noise.

Here's when I just purchased the GoProHd and was testing it against my old Canon Vixia HG20. Testing comparisons with on-board GoPro mic version external microphone...

^^ The GoPro with your canon and externam mic sounded excellent. I googled how much a setup like that would cost after watching it. Yikes.

I think i'll get my hardtop first.

I got rid of the Canon Vixia HG20 because the GoPro HD replaced it. I was just showing that ANY external microphone will help. In my autox videos I'm using the Zoom H2 Microphone as the external mic.

Here's a vid of Bama's mount using a Canon SD980IS on reg. def., open, stock mic built into the camera.

I nicked-named this: Bama's Crawfish Mount...cuz it sounds redneck

This is my video with the Bama Dave custom built rear tow hook mount using the Go Pro Hero2 and a Rode Videomic directional external microphone. The first test with this setup and I am happy with the results but still have some issues with the some vibration in the mount. I believe that I have resolved the vibration when I returned home. I will do another run very soon and will post the video asap. Speeds were from 10 mph to about 90 mph along the Interstate. The wind noise started around 75 mph, but I can live with that. No mods to sounds. Added some pictures of the mount.
