There's a lot of speculation right now with GoPro. Video quality is at a standstill in terms of the broad market so there is only so much they can change while requiring the price they market them at. Especially considering the growing market of action cameras and the increasing competition.

I'd say go with the Silver Hero 4 or the Session. Figure out if you'd need 4k and the screen on the back of the Silver and go from there. You'd be surprised how awesome it is. Even my Hero 3 silver gets plenty of use. I haven't felt a need to upgrade it yet.

 

Yeah i think im gonna go with the Silver after reading about it some more. Does the stock camera mount work inside a vehicle, or does anyone have a recommendation?

A lot of guys run the Modifry mount instead of using a sticky on the glove box in front of the windscreen. If you're racing, it lets you see speed, rpms, and hand placement a little better. Also be sure to set the spot metering if it's particularly sunny outside and it washes out the video. You'll know when to use spot metering when you are being blinded while driving.

I like to mix is up between the following three places, between the rear view mirror and windshield facing forward, inside the windshield in the upper right corner(pass. side) facing the cockpit, and under my driver side mirror at an angle capturing the wheel towards the right of the shot and a lot of the side of the road. I use stickies for the first and last but use suction for the cockpit view.

 

Cheers for the info! I was looking at the Hero 4 Silver but thought maybe it's better to wait for the new one with better specs and the same price if it's planned in the next few weeks. If it takes an other few months i'll just get the 4.

I finally pulled the trigger on a GoPro Hero 4 Silver and opted for the Modifry mount. I've only done one video but I'm suffering from the dreaded click/rattle noise as well. I'm going to see if putting a microfiber towel between the secret door and compartment will help.
