I see. Cool! I use a tascam dr-07 mkii. There are many other choices, but this model does a good job. I initially bought it for capturing audio when shooting video with a DSLR so it is probably an out of date product now. It has built in mics and also an input. The input is cool if you want to pick up a specific sound. You can plug in a lav mic and stick it in someones helmet or your own helmet if you want to narrate your driving experience. If you are comfortable with post production syncing then I think something like this is the way to go. It allows you to easily monitor the audio levels and delivers great results. Good luck

This uses the internal Hero 2 Mic but with my custom fussy wind canceler. I have just about zero wind noise in my videos now!! I bought some arts and crafts from Michaels for about $8 instead of buying a pre made solution.

I bought a single sheet of the adhesive felt. I cut it down to the size of the door on the Go pro.

Then I bought some ostich hair. It was coiled up and was like a long string full of the hair. I cut a section and then double and triple folded the hair onto itself then glued it to the felt. Once glued it looks something kind of like this.

After 2 track days, and probably 750miles of top down driving its still intact. THe felt is just starting to pull away from the go-pro case. Top down the sound is good and eliminates some of the wind, but it works best with the top up or on.

For audio, I use a cheap lav mic ($14 Audio Technica).

^ where do you mount the lav mic? I have the same one and I tried clipping it to the mesh on the trans tunnel as well as against the firewall but not happy with the sound yet.

Also could be a defective mic but it records at a low volume and has a faint beeping on recording.

I have a Hero 2 and a Audio Technica 3350 mic. Where is the best place to mount the mic to pick up the motor sounds?
My car is stock except for K&N FPIK.
Thanks

Anyone care to comment on what gopro version to get? I'm considering purchasing one and wondering if the Hero3 White or Silver is the one to get, or even if I can find a used Hero2. I'm shying away from the Hero3 black because of the cost and I've read it has a problem w/ crashing. Is there any advantage to the Hero3 Silver over the White in terms of video image quality? It looks like the silver has the option of better still photos, but I could careless about still shots. Thanks!

After bitching and complaining, I pulled the trigger on a Go Pro Hero 3 black edition. My initial tests are pretty positive... the ability to preview from my phone and control it from there is pretty neat. What the battery life will look like still remains to be seen.. I'll get a chance to test it out in a few weeks (time lapse), and then at the Dragon.

I forget where it's is posted but i use an audio technica external mic and i run it into the little mesh cargo pocket on the passanger side... works great there

Too bad Go Pro is yet to release an update to the app that allows video playback. This would be really helpful in between runs at the autox.

Finally got a chance to put my black edition to good use, please don't judge my autocross skills, only my second time.

I picked up a USB 3.0 card reader a couple days ago and if your computer has the capability I highly suggest one, I transferred about 10GBs of data in just a minute or two.
