Honda of Japan and Mobil both recommended Mobil1 5W40 for S2000 of all model years.
Now, would Mobil really recommend anything else?!?!

Either weight is acceptable, however I choose 10w30 since wisconsin is such an odd climate location. lol

Mobil1 10W-30

I track my car regularly, and autocross every chance I get. For the very slight extra cost of synthetic ($4/quart; less than a drop in the bucket with all the thousands of dollars one spends on tires, brakes and other wear items for this hobby), and the fact that I can comfortably get a couple thousand extra miles between oil changes, it's a no-brainer to me.

I have 3 cars: '94 LS400 with about 160k miles, '00 E430 with 60k miles and '04 S2000 with 10k miles. Mobil website recommended only Mobil1 0W40 for '00 E430 which is exactly what MB recommended. For '94 LS400, Mobil website recommended all 5 different 10W30 oils: Mobil Clean 5000, Mobil Clean High Mileages, Mobil Clean 7500, Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 Extended Performance. But for S2000, it had only one oil, that is Mobil1 5W40 T&SUV.

Of course, it only recommended Mobil products. But what I mean was, only one grade is recommended by Mobil for S2000, that is 5W40 synthetic.

I was under the impression that the first number in the oil weight really depends on the climate at which the car is first started in.....meaning, winters with snow and ice require 0 or 5 weight or in my case, sunny Southern California wouldn't really need anything less than 10 weight.

Please clarify this cuz I'm confused.
