Default Oil change before or after road trip?

I'm due for an oil change in about 900 miles. I am going to go on a 1000 mile road trip in 2 weeks (plus about 150 miles in regular driving until then). When do you guys recommend I change my oil, before or after? And is there anything else recommended I do before I leave? If I don't get an oil change, I'll carry a quart of oil in the trunk if I ever run low.

How many miles has it been since your last oil change?

I would general jump right in to answer such questions but since installing my "anal retentive" alert meter and just seeing it go completely off scale, I shall refrain.

I'd do it after the trip.

What is "anal retentive".. sounds painful.

Its been.. a little over 3,000 or 4,000 miles since the last oil change I believe. (I have to check since I've only had the car for about a month). The little oil change sticker from Honda is telling me to change at 32,400 mi.

Yeah, especially if you do a lot of spirited driving.

the way i look at this is that an oil change never hurts your car but running low on oil... well you get the picture, i hope.

Before road trips I usually replace the oil if it's nearing the time, check the tire pressure, and check the air filter. Of course, you should always check the levels of your coolant and brake fluid.
