Default oil change and break in question ...

what should and shouldn't i do during the break in period? (besides not going above 5.5k rpm) i am extending my break in period to 750 miles, good enough?

i do mostly normal driving in CA. (i assume planning on VTECing everyday after break in is considered as normal driving )
when should be the first oil change?
what about there after?
is synthetic oil a lot better? should i maintain the same oil change period even if i use synthetic engine oil?

i got the extended warranty from honda, i heard some time ago that i can bring my own engine oil to honda deal and ask them to change it for me, true?

thanks a lot

check the recent service bulletin page in the FAQ section - factory oil should stay in for 7500 miles ideally. Synthetic oil not till after 7500-10,000 miles.

Vary load on the engine - not just rpm.

Remember that your brakes need to be broken in also.

MOST importantly, check the engine oil level every gas fillup.

Yes, that's true - but still, not hard braking or overuse of the brakes...

As far as oil changes go forget what the bloody manual tells you and do what is the rule here in Australia. First oil and filter change at 600 miles (that is BEFORE you VTEC) and then change every 3,000 miles. Unlike the US we Aussies do not have the engine failures the US is experiencing and I attribute this to getting rid of the running-in oil (and all the debris and crap that is floating around in it) before putting the extra strain on the motor that VTEC will induce.

The recommendation has come directly from the father of the S2000 engine in Tochigi!

(4) Opinions vary, but nearly everyone agrees the first oil change should be no sooner than 3750 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first.
