Default Oil Consumption -- Should I be using more?

I have a 2003 S2K, and I have approximately 1300 miles on it. I was under the assumption that the s2k uses oil throughout it's break-in period and well after that. Over having it so far for less than a month, and filling the gas up I would say at least 5 times, I've only used about 1 quart of oil. I had to add one quart after my 2nd fill-up of gas.

I'm just a bit worried that I may be reading the dip stick incorrectly or doing something wrong? I'm assuming each car is very different, but I'm still a little apprehensive about my car not needing any oil after all this driving (about 700 miles since the last oil top off).

My History:

Break-in was done for 800 miles.

VTEC was done about 1-3 times a day until 1000 miles.

VTEC is now done at least 10 times a day.

I'm not really insanely hard on my car, but I think will all this high RPM use I would be using up some oil.

Any comments on this? Thanks.

I had to add 1 1/2 qts in the first 5,000 miles. Changed oil (Castrol 10W30) at 5k and have used little since - I am at 7,500 now. It was down 1 to 2 xxx's last night, but I don't add any till it needs about 1/2 qt. My driving is mostly only on weekends and that is mainly on interstates and rural roads. Like to VTEC though, certainly more than 10 times per day, but then it is only for 2-3 days a week. I am lucky enough to be able to walk to work.

There are lots of good threads on the site about oil - just type in "check oil" and hit the search button. Lots of differing opinions also :-)

I've got 3000 miles on my car, and have used maybe 3/4 quart..........I suspect it varies all over the place for a number of reasons.........myself, I am pleased that it uses as little as it does.........it also seems that later cars use less during break-in than earlier cars............

I have about 3000 miles and it's about the middle of the range on the dipstick. It was about 3/4 of the dipstick when new. I think the oil consumption is varied from engine to engine.

My S has 1,300 miles and I have never needed to add oil.

I went through maybe a couple of quarts in the first 6000 miles and not a drop since. Now at 9000 miles.

Regarding StwoK's post, bullet 2 - xviper had an excellent post recently on proper reading of the dipstick. If you do a search on xviper and dipstick, you will find it. No offense xviper. In that post, he recommends removing the dipstick right after you pull up to the gas pump, then fill up, then check the oil level. This gives time for the oil that splashes up around the end of the dipstick between the dipstick and the engine to drain out so that you get an accurate reading from either side of the dipstick.

My car's first oil change was at 7500 miles (previous owner).
My car just hit 10,000 miles, and the oil level is still high.

Thanks a lot for the excellent comments guys. I really appreciate it. I feel a lot better about what's going on with my car knowing others have been in similar positions.
