old age of an s2k
let me preface by saying i dont know that much about how cars work internally.
many s2k owners intend to keep this car for as long as they can.
that makes me wonder what parts are likely to fail and need replacing. how much would it cost.
and is there a part of the car that could break that would make an owner give up on the car and move on due to cost and hassle?
or do you guys intend to just keep replacing whatever breaks and continue on?

I'm sure everyone will have different answers. Personally there's not a part that can break that would push me to sell it. The car would have to be totaled in an accident for me to get rid of it, otherwise I'm completely confident rebuilding the engine, transmission, or anything else.
It would have to be a total loss for me.
I plan on keeping this car just about forever. When something major happens to it, provided its paid off, it will be transformed into a wheel to wheel track car. Until then, it will remain a fun street/track car.
If it were to become a total loss, it will be replaced with a Porsche 930 turbo, as thats next on my list of "affordable dream cars" to own.

^ actually yea, ive thought about collecting spare parts of the car i just dont have the dough at the moment being in school
But from what i see off and on craigslist, trans, diff, and even engines (used of course) are resonably priced it seems.. If i keep this car for 3-4 years and the value dips below 10k def a keeper till it rusts back into mother earth. But right now w used car values so high, i woldn't rule out driving a car for free for 2-3 years by selling it for my cost, maybe upgrade to an ap2

Nothing.

And even then I would grab the insurance check and find another S2000 as soon I as I possibly could.
I am going to my grave owning one of these gems. End of story.

while i plan on keeping it forever, i dont think id be able to say no if i were to run in to a real good deal on a NSX.
the S with a timing chain, seems like it could go on forever without huge repair bills.
having a NSX and a S2k with a TL Type S as a daily or even a evo would be IDEAL though

Only exception is I plan to keep the CRX as well.
