Mine would have to be a total loss to get rid of it.

A roll over or bent frame would most likely be it for me. In a few years the s2k drivetrain probably won't be in abundance, but I'd swap it out for a small v8 + a t56 or something along those lines. The body panels outside can be swapped for a widebody, no biggie. But once that structural integrity is compromised, I'm a firm believer that it will never be the same. And if I'm going with a full tube chassis, then I'd just do a full on custom car without the s2k parts.

Nope.

I plan on keeping it as long as possible. A bent frame or a total loss accident would be the only thing to keep it from staying in my garage.

Frame damage or fire damage is the only thing that would cause me to give up on the car.

You can replace everything mechanical easy enough.

frame/flood/fire or accumulation of damage that would cost more to repair than to buy a new one. Seeing as how mine is boosted, small things like rear ends and head gaskets arent going to push me anywhere near the edge. Just keep on pushin'

It would have to be totaled. Then I'll just have to get another one. Hell, I want another one (2,3,4...) right now.

I was having this conversation with a "normal" person the other day when discussing transmission problems. They just didn't get why I wanted to go to the trouble of fixing major problems on an old high milage car. It's truly one of those "If I have to explain you wouldn't understand" situations.

Haha. I have dealt with people like that on occasion. A co-worker of mine could not believe that I paid $7,500 for a Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 with 130,000 miles on it. Even when I explained to him that I actually got a great deal on it. I suppose to people used to driving Fords and Chevy's anything over 100,000 miles has got to be about to fall apart, right? lol
