my dad and i woke up and took my eclipse to the car wash. we saw a nail in the tire and brought it to discount to get it fixed. he asked me if i wanted to go look at cars, just to look. i had no intentions of buying anything. we got to the dealer, i saw it, my dad said no because i would roll it. i called a couple of car friends, they came, we test drove it, proved to my dad it would be very difficult to roll, my dad called my mom and they co signed. good times indeed. happy thanksgiving to me

in 2001 a guy on the miata forum and i agreed we would meet so he could drive my new 2001 LS, he wanted another roadster for whatever reason and thought the improved car might be for him. it was close by and at the time i had just driven a slightly used Audi TT 225 hp and enjoyed the extras it had over the miata.

we met and attracted the attention of a new audi owner who stoped by our two cars and we all talked cars. after talking to the audi guy i knew i did not want one, problems, the spare would not fit in the car if you got a flat, and suspension issues, electrical gremlims, etc...so this guy and i went for a ride in my miata, he was driving a 2002 S2000.

I had seen hondas and thought they were just honda, reliable and as exciting as a solstis. then he let me drive his S, we got onto the freeway and i did not want to get on this car as it did not belong to me...i noticed the tight suspension and flex free chassis, and the great gearbox...but he then said punch it(i was shifting about 6,000 using my ears), when we hit vetc in 2nd i was sold..i could not beleive a 2.0 could go like this without a turbo.

Well i wanted one but i had this fairly new miata nad S2000 were going for 10,000 over sticker, then $5,000, no way....till 2003, the price seemed to normalize later that year to sticker...i drove a new 2003 andwas set to buy one when i read of the changes coming...i waited and bought the car off the showroom floor, driving it out of the dealer's doors after i purchased it, nad i got it for less than sticker with my miata in trade!

I have never regretted or looked back, this is such a wonderful car that challenges my ability to drive every day, it is so sweet to drive, and i am so lucky. without that guy and that chance meeting i would have gotten a used TT!

I wanted an S from back when I first saw the SSM, back in the late '90s.

By about early 2000 I had almost saved up enough money, but then we went on strike for 40 days. Doh!

I eventually bought mine in Oct 2001.

I didn't realize I wanted one until I COULD afford it! Funny what having some spare cash does to a person.

Waited about 4 years until I got enough money to seriously afford one...

Plus I sold my first love, 1990 B18 CRX...

It was worth it in the end...
