Mine is pitted and chipped like it has been through a sand storm and only after 6000 miles.

I did a search and found that most people are just replacing their windshields or using off the shelf repair kits.

I'm assuming there is no miracle cure for pits or chips yet. I don't have any cracks just the pits and chips.

I hate the idea of putting a new windshield in after only 6000 miles.

Any news on this front or has anybody found a really good product for the problem?

I agree the windshield is weak.. Mine has quite a few pits only after 3100 miles.. I have never noticed this problem on any other cars I have owned.. But then again I have never loved a car so much as the S2000

one time while i was out driving a car in front of me threw a rock up, hit my windshield near the middle bottom edge and started a crack. 10 minutes and it was 6 inches. 1 hour and it was over a foot long. new glass costs about $600.

I think the S2000's windshield laminate is a bit softer than in other cars - probably to make up for the possible flex in the windshield frame of the convertible. Another reason is that it has a more upright windshield than even my CRV or Odyssey!

It does seem to pit and chip much more easily than in my other cars. Good thing in MA, windshields are covered with no deductible.

My previous car was also a 2 seater roadster and that windshield got scratched/pitted after only a few thousand miles also. I don't know about the "soft laminate" for flex, but my theory is that since we are closer to the ground, we are in a larger "debris field". Plus, I seem to drive this car pretty fast all the time, so of course I am whacking into these particles pretty hard

A weak windshield is a safe windshield.

Back in the '70s windshields were much stronger, and much more dangerous. In an accident, if you began to be ejected and pierced the windshield with your head, then returned inside the car, the windshield would rip you apart.

Now, the windshields disintegrate on the first piercing.

Be glad.
They are replacable. I wish there was such an easy fix for chips in the paint.

I don't think closer to the ground is a factor as my Prelude and NSX are even closer to the ground. And those windshields certainly don't chip as easily.

You may want to consider getting the zero deductible glass breakage coverage from your insurance company as well...

Although the height and angle of the windshield makes it an easy victim, I believe this glass is easier to scratch than any I have seen. My windshield is a mess of pits, chips, and scratches. I can smooth the smaller mars by using polishing compound on it, but this thing looks like it will need replacement on a regular basis.
