One Year with the CR
Today (Oct 2nd) is my one year anniversary of owning the S2000 CR. I thought in honor of this occasion, I'll write a review of my experiences of using the CR as a daily driver.
Driveability:
The 6-speed manual gearbox is the best gearbox I have ever driven. Gear engagement is smooth for the most part which makes daily driving this car on long distances through stop-and-go traffic not so awful compared to when I daily drove a 350Z.
Space:
What space? I didn't buy a sports car in order to haul luggage around. The S2000's trunk isn't too bad, and since the CR lacks a spare tire, I can use the extra room for a few more objects.
Performance:
Straight-line performance is uninspiring. I think the S2000 is one of the slowest vehicles I've driven in my life so far. Where the S2K lacks in blistering straight-line speeds, it makes up for on twisty roads. Carving through canyons is what I believe Uehara had in mind when the S was introduced.
This is the most fun car to drive fast that I've driven other than a Lotus Elise SC, but the Elise is obviously worse as a daily driver.
I think the S2K could be the perfect sports car with just a bit more power and torque, so one day (not sure when) I do plan on going FI just to be able to say, "I own the perfect sports car."
I do enjoy the way the S2000 sounds at WOT. It isn't as loud as I'd like it to be, but for a 4-cylinder engine, it sounds gorgeous.
Appearance:
I think almost everyone in my town has seen my CR by now; however, it still turns heads like a beautiful car should. An on-looker told me that if my CR didn't have the Honda badge on it, he would've confused it for an Italian sports car.
I can't help but stare at this car.
Overall:
I'm extremely glad with my decision of purchasing the CR. When I was trading in my previous S2000, I was looking into a different car to purchase. I didn't even want to go into the Honda dealership because I thought to myself, "I don't want a Civic Si." When I did finally get myself to walk into the dealership, I fell in love with the CR. The love still isn't gone one year later and I plan to let it last forever.
By the way, I've driven 22,5XX miles so far with the CR in one year of ownership. From March of 2007 until October of 2009, I only put 25k miles on my silverstone AP2.

i mean s2k's arent the fastest things on 4 wheels, but you must have had a nice collection of cars in your lifetime if the cr is the slowest. lol

you can't deny it though. There's enough power for day to day, but when you're below 6k, the power is pretty weak

lol, the s2000 is pretty slow in a straight line, but hey, that's not what it was meant for

That claim is for sure false. There's no way you could get around driving a slow car at some point in your life, even if it was a friend's. Now, if it's the slowest car in a straight like that you've owned that's a different story, and kudos.
I've only had my 06' S for around six weeks. Today for the first time the wife and I were cruising a straight stretch of smoothe level highway on the way to my brothers house. And since I really have not had an opportunity to shake this little jewel out much since we bought it,and since there was very sparse traffic on this stretch of road I decided to throttle it up and see what she would do. I was from 70 to 115 in just a matter of seconds and she had plenty of throttle left. Car tracked surprisingly well to my surprize.I don't make a habit of doing this BTW but felt compelled to put it to a high speed test so I could taste what I had. That said....I certainly would not consider it being a slow straight line car in any sense of the word.
