Default Options for a Totaled S2000?

Hey all,

An acquaintance of mine recently totaled her S2000 and is seeking some advice. Her AP1 ended up hydroplaning and hitting a guard rail, causing significant body damage. The motor and tranny are fine, as well as the interior. Airbags did not deploy.

Unfortunately, she does not have full coverage, so insurance won't be covering anything. I'm trying to help her figure out the best way to get some money from the car. So far, we have a few options:

Option 1: Sell the entire wrecked car to someone as a parts car or restoration. This would be the easiest and most preferable option.

Option 2: Sell the car to a salvage yard. Another easy option, but with the least amount of payback.

Option 3: Do a part out. Several major parts can be sold (engine, trans, interior, seats, dash, cluster, steering wheel, soft top, among others). There is a potential to get a lot more money, but this requires time, labor, and a location in which to store the car. Plus, the shell would need to be disposed or sold.

The car is currently at a tow facility. My friend doesn't have a garage or backyard space, so she would like to figure out something by the end of the week.

Does anyone have any insights on the best way to proceed? Advice on selling to a salvage yard, doing a part out, etc.? Does anyone have extra space to store the car for a part out?

Let me know if you guys can help out a fellow S2k owner! Thanks!

parting it out will take a LOT of time and effort. Most people arent up to it. I would sell it as is and move on. Please dont scrap it.

Unfortunately, the damage is a lot more than cosmetic. Definitely totaled. Here are some pics from the owner:

Please dont turn this into a FS thread. If the owner wants to join the forum and post it for sale she is more than welcome. Otherwise, let's give Jon some friendly advice and keep it at that.
