One of the folks I work with owns an original M3 (1988).

He heard through his user group that new M3 production will be held up due to the motors blowing when run near the 8K red line.

Any confirmations to this?

 

There are supposedly some engine tolerances that are off, so I think production stopped for a while... i only heard of this at www.bimmer.org like everyone else. I don't recall seeing anything in print though.?

I don't remember the "engine blowing" wording anywhere either.
