Other horn options?
Silver Bullet,
Installed on bracket in front - one right above the other in back of grill - local radio shack installed (they do car radio jobs) for about $60 - I gave them pages of a thread from this board on installation of hella supertones (try search). The horns came with a relay - as I recall they left most of the stock wiring so I could hook stock up again if I wanted - wiring for hella's was a heavier guage. I got the impression that there are a number of ways to do this installation - just stand back when they test those horns

Does anyone know how the Hella air horns compare to the Fiamm air horns (as shown in the FAQ)? Sound? Ease of installation?
The FAQ implies that no relay is necessary for the Fiamms, just a 20Amp fuse. Is that true? Do the Hellas need a relay?
Thanks,
Ted

I put on dual Fiamm's (1 high, 1 low), 135 db, no relay needed, bigger fuse, and I don't regret it at all. I've had car air horns in the past and on both cars, the compressor crapped out after a couple of years. One simply does not use them enough for them to keep lubricated and all the crud that gets in there during normal motoring just gums it all up and eventually they stop blowing. I was too lazy to do the routine maintenance (oiling) as required. I think most people are this way. Also (and this is my personal taste) compared to the air horns on the trucks I drive, car air horns just seem kinda.....well.....too high pitched and feminine. The Fiamm's I've got now sound like those off an old Caddy or Buick. I just love it when people look around for that giant grill in their rear view.
they sound like my audi, just louder. very oem sounding.. i like em alot.

I just put on a set of PIAA Dual Sport horns 400hz/500hz. Installation was easy. I just had to splice the new connectors onto the stock horn wires and then make a new set of ground wires because the eyes on the ones in the kit were too small for the mounting bolts.
I like the lower tone (classic American car horn sound). There is also a higher 500/600 version for those who want a more euro car horn sound.
I tried to take a video at 10ft and at 20ft but the sound was overdriving my camera microphone. So I wound up at 50ft. I think it's still overdriving the mic.
