Are our xenons the best you've ever driven?
s2000's HIDs definitely are the most focused and cast the widest blanket of light, but i'm not so sure they're any brighter than the competition. it's pretty much splitting hairs (surprise). i like 'em so much i keep them on day and night (safety and bling reasons). cool thing to point out is that the s2000's projector lens is the only lens i've seen outside of honda that's not diffused. porsche's litronics really suck.
my fav has gotta be the range rover's. sits high up and blinds the shit outta everybody. one of the bluest/purplest OEM setups is the A6 All Road. pretty blingin'... too bad it's a damn family wagon car. EVO 8's got a nice setup. very similar to the S2000's colors. my least fav are the old lexus and mb and acura setups with HID bulbs coupled with conventional halogen design casings (looks like all three are starting to use the projector lens style). like the new STi. their HID setup is sorry. no better than regular halogen and probably worse than some halogen setupts. 350z lights suck too. the lens is too small. focus is lacking. but even worse are the guys who couldn't afford the escalade, settle for the tahoe and stuff them w/ fake ass barney bulbs. pls. you're not foolin' anyone.
but for those of you who complain about the s2000's system lacking self leveling... do you guys even understand what self-leveling actually does?
i love the fact that our system keeps it simple. decreased cost, less moving parts. i use high beams maybe once every 100 times behind the wheel. don't give a shit about it.
cheers,

cheers,
the xenons in our audi and MB provide just as much light as the S2000....
the first 2 are self levelling where as the S2000 is not, and only the MB and S2000 are projector style (the MB has bi-xenons).
i may even venture to say that the audi throws light the furthest and widest......for a 5000 pound sedan, i suspect it may need to.....

The self levelling sucks, especially on Audi's. I have got an Audi S3 (not available in the US) and they have self levelling Xenons. First of all normal lights are better than the Audi's and the self levelling often decides not to work and the lower so you can only see 10 metres up the road
. You have to switch the ignition of and back on again. Self levelling is only good for hills and not blinding other drivers, even though I have been flashed by other drivers anyway. They make no difference to your own vision.
I think the S2000's lights are superb, thank god they don't self level!!

i've never heard anyone say that halogens are better than xenons.....in any car.
I love the s2000 lights except the constant flashes from other drivers that can be a PITA! I've been flashed numerous times on a 4 lane split highway!
I got fed up and started to flash them back my brights, TAKE THAT!
Actually I find the high beam rather sucks, I rather just drive with lows on all the time.... I wonder if I change the high beam to silverstars???

I agree about Audi xenons. My 01 S4's sucked too. I think it must have to do with the size of the projector as well. The Audi's are relatively small compared to some. The BMW and Range's are some the largest lenses I've seen and they typically have great projection.
Someone said the 350z's suck too. I'm sure they do, have you seen the size of their projectors?
I get flashed quite a bit too. I thought maybe they were aimed wrong, (brand new though...) but I guess now that others have gotten flashed mine must be normal.

This gives the same result as described - slightly lower beam to oncoming traffic on the left side of the road.
I always wondered (since learning the above) how a JDM lamp or British lamp is configured. Is the step down on the other side? I thinking if yes, than we could trade with someone across the pond and have an even light pattern across the road - hmmmmm. Wonder how often we would get flashed then?

Check Consumer Reports.... they had an article in their last (or maybe year before) special edition auto review. They talked about Xenons. They said the best Xenons were on the S, the worst was on the TT.
