I was told by an extremely reliable source (s2ktaxi) that there are 2.5 gallons of gas remaining in the tank when the light comes on.

You guys need to check out my website to find the cheapest price for gas in your city!!

You'll find it at http://www.Gasbuddy.com, as seen on https://www.s2ki.com/. It is the parent site for 115 local websites across the US and Canada. You can find your city by clicking on the map on the link.

"The General", where was that Amoco station, and when did you fill up there?

Gators
Mine comes on at 3 bars.

Some have stated that the reading "resets" after a bit- I know I've had 3 bars, parked on a slight incline, then had zero bars, only to have it reset and show three bars again.

Why even get that close! With all the gas stations out there, why not just pull in when she's down around a 1/4- 1/2 and fill it back up? You need to check the oil anyway.
No offense intended.
I have to gas the wife's car every time I drive it and it always seems to have the gas light on. Just tempting fate. What could be more embarassing than walking back to your baby with a gas can in you hand? You'll be the joke of every other sportscar forum.

I think everyone agrees that we have 2-3 gallons left when the lights go out, but don't assume you can actually use all that's left in the tank. Unless Honda designed a very good fuel trap in this car, you easily can run dry while driving up or down hill or while cornering with a near empty tank. Leaving such a nice car on the roadside while you hoof it for fuel invites vandalism. Why risk it?

Allan got it right. There is a difference between total fuel in the tank and USABLE fuel (ask any pilot). It's a rare car that can USE all the fuel in the tank, even on level ground, much less on a hill. On my 88 Prelude 4ws, I ran out on level ground. By careful measurement, there were about 1.8 gallons left in the tank. That's an unusally large number for a car but who knows what it is in a Stook.
