My gas gauge went from two bars, to one bar to no bars in the space of two miles. As soon as it went to no bars the low fuel lamp came on. I went about three more miles and filled up with 10.5 gallons.
Then I accidentally pushed the "regular" button on the pump and filled up with 87 octane. The knock sensor seems to work well, or I've lost more hearing than I think.

[B]Allan got it right. There is a difference between total fuel in the tank and USABLE fuel (ask any pilot). It's a rare car that can USE all the fuel in the tank, even on level ground, much less on a hill. On my 88 Prelude 4ws, I ran out on level ground. By careful measurement, there were about 1.8 gallons left in the tank. That's an unusally large number for a car but who knows what it is in a Stook.
