Default Over-revving worries

The other day I actually forgot that I needed to change gear (dumbass - I know, I know)... Anyway, in third gear I hit the rev limiter and then it dropped a few rpms and did it again before I actually came to my senses... Have I done perminent damage to my new car?

none. that's why it's set up the way it is. just be sure you're paying attention when you down shift cuz you don't have that kind of insurance.

im not trying to flame, but wouldn't the motor be loud enough at ~8000 rpm to give u a hint that u might want to change gears?

his music might have been too loud and it might be his first manual tranny car.
People make mistakes.

Not necessarily. The S2000 is not that loud a car in stock form and the engine is smooth as silk at the higher rpms, at least the rpm's I've had one to! Turn on the radio and add a little traffic induced distractions and I can see anyone doing this fairly easily, at least once.

Do it again, dwheatley, and you'll be fair game for some heavy razzing!

Drive Safe,
Steve R.
